Chinese Medicine is an ancient system of patient care that has been practiced, developed, and refined for over 2000 years. In this time, efficient and non-invasive techniques were created to effectively treat a wide variety of diseases for maximum benefit with minimum side effects.
Many methods were developed in poor rural communities with little access to mainstream health care. People in these communities lacked the time and money to repeatedly visit doctors. Most had to work constantly for survival. They could not spend their days sick in bed, or unable to work due to negative side effects of treatment. Necessity bred a system of medicine that was both inexpensive and effective.
Through innovative thinking and years upon years of trial and error, a system of medicine was developed whereby the 'roots' or source of the disease would be addressed or eliminated. After treating the 'roots,' the symptoms (also referred to as 'branches' in Traditional Chinese Medicine) would naturally resolve.
The idea that disease is most effectively eliminated through identifying and treating the foundation (or roots) of disease is nothing new, nor is the idea absent from Western Medicine and thinking. Unfortunately this principle of medicine is often put on the back burner in favor of palliative medicine whereby symptoms are kept at bay but the patient remains medicated for extended periods of time and unfortunately sometimes for life.
This is not the fault of the doctors practicing palliative care, nor is it the fault of the patients seeking such care, because neither of these groups know of a solution, they are simply doing the best they can with the information that they have. The responsibility lies with those who do have a solution and fail to spread the word.
Patients and doctors alike: it's time to put the 'roots' principle first and foremost in our thinking and actions. We'll settle for palliative treatments only in the interim between now and finding that solution.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has the capacity to fill a gaping hole in modern medicine. Spread the word, and let’s get started.
5 reasons more patients are trying Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture:
This list is by no means exhaustive but these are the most common reasons patients state that they seek care at Roots of Eastern Medicine Acupuncture.
1) Looking for a long term solution.
Yep, we talked about this above. When established medicine does not satisfactorily solve our concerns we tend to seek elsewhere for resolution. Let’s find it together.
2) No more synthetic chemicals.
It is becoming more and more acceptable that natural equals healthy and unnatural equals unhealthy. While there are exceptions to this rule (a rattlesnake bite may be natural but that doesn’t mean it does a body good, and the antidote may very well be synthetic) most can agree that lowering your cholesterol through dietary means is better than eating garbage while simultaneously taking cholesterol lowering drugs.
Acupuncture and medical massage rely on the body’s own natural occurring substances and healing processes for their effect. All natural Chinese herbs boost immunity, increase vitality, and fight disease processes all without adding toxic burden to the body.
3) Had enough of all these side effects.
Sometimes it gets to the point where the treatment is worse than the disease. TCM and Acupuncture very rarely (if ever) result in the laundry list of side effects found in most FDA approved prime-time drug advertisements.
4) Try one more thing before surgery.
Most surgeons want you to exhaust all other treatment options, because they know that surgery is risky, and you are less likely to fault them for any complications if you know there was no other choice.
TCM and acupuncture is also very beneficial to keep pain under control in the interim leading up to surgery, as well as decreasing pain and improving recovery after surgery.
5) It worked for my friend/mother/coworker, etc.
Nothing works quite like a credible witness, if you’re here for that reason then thanks to who sent you, and I look forward to making you a believer as well.
