About Me
My specialty
- I specialize in musculoskeletal, orthopedic, and sports medicine. I have had success treating herniated disks, tendon and ligament sprains and strains, back and neck pain, sciatica, plantar fascistis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, and many other musculoskeletal problems.
- I developed the theory of Connective Tissue Acceleration based on my experience treating musculoskeletal diseases. I did so in order to explain the physiology of such diseases from a Western medical as well as Eastern medical perspective, and to show why this specific form of Tui Na medical massage is extremely effective in treating chronic and severe pain.
- Because acupuncture is relatively new in America as compared to China, acupuncturists are similar to western medical doctors that practice general family medicine, in that we must know how to treat every patient that comes in to our clinic. But western medicine in America has become highly specialized, which is good, because it is in your best interest to find the doctor that has the most experience treating your individual problem. Traditional Chinese medicine doctors have also become very specialized in China, some dealing primarily with fertility, others with digestion, and others with autoimmune disease, etc. Do not give up on acupuncture if you’ve already tried it with limited results, you may have just seen a doctor that didn’t specialize in nor had adequate experience in treating your problem.
Internal medicine
- I also have tools at my disposal to treat mental, emotional, and internal medicine diseases. Roots of Eastern Medicine Acupuncture Clinic is far more than just a sports medicine or physical therapy clinic. If I only treated orthopedic diseases I would have to change the name of the clinic to Branches of Eastern Medicine, and that just doesn't have the same ring to it. Plus I don't want to have to register for another fictitious business name, replace all my business cards, fliers, and signs, and what would my slogan be if I was Branches of Eastern Medicine anyway? Branch out into new avenues of health? If you're a starting acupuncturist and you want that name and slogan go ahead and take it, free of charge, just remember to tell them where you heard it.
- I have experience treating indigestion, GERD (heartburn), migraines, cluster headaches, TMJ, tinnitus, insomnia, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, hiatal hernia, palpitations, chest pain, abdominal pain, PMS, fibromyalgia, stress, angina, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, diarrhea, diabetes, and many other unfortunate consequences of being only human.
My experience
- I graduated from the American College of Traditional Chinese medicine after 3 ½ years of 20-30 hours per week clinic and in class training (most acupuncturists that went to school in the United States and are California Licensed will have similar experience here).
- I spent a 4 year, 40+ hours/week internship with YuTai Fu, L.Ac.; Master of Qi Gong, Acupressure, Bone Setting, and Chinese Tui Na massage from Beijing, China. This was the trial by fire equivalent of teaching a novice climber how to climb by sending them on a leisurely treck to the summit of K2. I wouldn't be what I am today had I not gone through this, and the bulk of my style and theory came from here. I'm not haphazardly listing the patients I have experience with treating in the hopes that any and all who see my website will have a reason to seek my help, or to merely increase internet traffic. Those illnesses are listed because I have seen treated and have effectively personally treated all of those conditions countless times, over and over again. Many patients had already seen western medical doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, and other acupuncturists without an improvement in their condition, only finally getting relief at our clinic.
